The Legend of the Green Legion Pt.1
By: treehugginhippy
Starpowered literature

It was quiet in the darkness vaccum of space, some of us expected to hear explosions, or the roaring of the Phase Engines, but it was still and quiet and some were even terrified on how quiet it was. I looked out the window of my ship, my ship that I have earned, with medals that no ordinary soldier can earn, fights against the inmaginable odds, this ship was mine to keep. The TDN Persecuer, the spearhead of the fleet. I stood there in my black uniform and just stared outwards into the emptiness, staring in awe of the beauty that a heartless void can hold. I turned around and saw my finest, the crew, the pilots, the engineers, the deckhands, they stared at me for orders and anticipation, but mostly because they were terrified out of thier military boots. I felt sick at this but swallowed my pride and spoke,
"Today, I was made Admiral of my own fleet, and this ship in my ownership. We are the heart that beats the blood upon this body of metal, we are the brain that tells the metal body how to act, we are the lungs that suck in the courage of our enemies and use it for ourselves! We are the Green Legion, the finest to ever exsist!" I roared in triumph and crowd followed, it was good that they were on my side.
"Some of you are questioning to why we are here at some backwater hickplanet, well we have intel on a Vassari convoy trying to pass us, through our yard and we are to let that happened? Never, so are to intercept them and either elimnate or steal thier cargo. We must be vigilant, they will have defenders and we are not so strong ourselves, so do not get cocky out there when you are blasting them into the void from whence they came." The crowd once again roared with courage and triumphant honor and loyalty, I smiled at this and no longer felt sick, they were not fearful, just waiting for orders.
"It will take a while to get used to this, but every man you action stations!" I always thought I would never call upon a large group of people to prepare for combat, it was always some other hotshot Admiral yelling at me over an intercomm. It seems like I was wrong.
I saw the crew scurry away, they looked lost and immediatly looked like they were a mob rather then a highly trained crew, but the docking bay cleared off as officers ran to the bridge, engineers to the lower levels, pilots to thier ships and soldiers to the raid transports. I was proud of them already before combat, organization is key to everything.
I proceeded up some stairs into a hallway, occasionally passing by either a walking or running crew member, it seems peaceful even though we are preparing for combat. I passed by the escape pods, and I hoped I never would have to use them, it took most of my career to earn this colossal behemoth of metal and electricity.
In a short time, which made me somewhat concerned about size, I entered the bridge, a lot more organized and less panic happening in the room. I took my seat at the high chair and heard of voice call out,
"Sir, commsat has detected the convoy heading inbound at S.North-S.East, time of arrival is estimated at 10 minutes! Interception upon arrival is estimated at 5 minutes! What are your orders." A male crewmember calling out, sounding professional but I can detect the youth in his voice. I opened my mouth and croaked out,
"Move to the interception location at full speed, we need to hit them before they come or else they have a chance to Phase out of the region. What are the reports of the local militia?"
"They are rallying at least a half dozen Light Frigates, they will meet us at the intercept points as soon as they are ready." A woman called out this time, our relations manager perhaps.
"Launch the fighters now, have they secure a perimiter for the bombers to move in and hit them where it hurts." A profound strategy that somehow always worked.
    "Sir enemy arrival, 5 minutes!"
"Power up the main laser and the forward guns, use less power on the shields and focus the reserves on the coolant systems." Faster fire always meant more hits, so long as the gunmen aim the damn things could hit the side of a space barn.
    "Three minutes sir!"
"Order the current light frigates behind us, and when we hit into combat mode, have them flank the enemy from S.West."
    "One minute sir!"
"I am aware of this! We all have damn watches, waste your oxygen yelling for help after I done with you if you say that again!" He was really bugging me off, I have no time for people who say the things I already know.
"Enemies detected, bombers launched, and militia are flanking from S.South S.East." Un-predicted move from them that works to our advantage, but first I must make sure we can flank them from our side.
I counted at least 10 Skirmishers and 20 Trade Ships, a little too lightly defended for a large amount of resources. Where were these ships going, and why so weak, they should have expected an intercept. I continued to ponder my thoughts.
Somehow it was still silent in the bridge, ahead of us on the other side of the large reinforced glass, there were explosions and weapons firing from different directions, it was an errie feeling none of us could come over.
"Sir, an enemy has phased in from behind us! Looks like a Jindra Class Battleship!" Yelled out that same damn voice, it was started to aggrivate me, but I saw it on the monitor, and it was being escorted by 20 more skirmishers, we were heavily outnumbers, 1 to 3, I had to think fast.
"Have all the light frigates concentrate on the convoy itself, break off our pursuit and pull full to starboard and hit the rain of fire on the enemy ships!" Rain of fire, it was a while since I last saw it, they were in for a treat.
It was as if I was in complete control of the ships movements, because we were already had our starboard guns trained onto them enemy attackers. In a matter of minutes they cannons fire roarously and shoke the ship, outside, four large balls of steel were heading towards the group of Skirmishers and exploded just inbetween them with deadly precission, and all around missles flew there and that and hit each on in the back, disabling engines and blowing some in the oblivion of space, I always loved that when I was a child, but a child no more since I have commanded it myself to launch.
The enemy Capital Ship stood there, not even trying to move or fire anything back at us, it simply turned and started to phase out. As it turned i saw a peculiar symbol upon the enemy ship, a snake biting a circle that was combusting in flames. By the time I was scratching my head in confusion, the enemy ship jumped and left the planet. The battle was won before it even had a time to esculate.
"We did it sir we won the battle!" A crew member shouted out in happiness, that God it was not that damn other guy, I need to meet him face to face, mabye with a medic team on standby. I said to a nearby crewmember,
"Bring up the comm, Command will require a SITREP on the situation." He nodded, typed a few keys and the glass ahead of us crackled into life, there was static and then the face of our leader in arms, General Domience.
"Ah, Admiral, it is good to see you breathing, not many can handle the responsibility of your position, but your records stood true, you are as hard as they come, now tell me of the situation." He said as if we were casually talking, even when death is happening at every minute, even second.
"The convoy and estimate 30 Skirmisher were eliminate, an enemy Jindra Class was sighted but fled the combat before we could even persure them, it carried a strange mark on it."
"Hmmm, must be some sort of specialized unit or some new recruit in training thing the Vassari have, but who cares really, so long as it will die in the end we really should not bother with it. Oh by the way I need your name for the report, I just can need to remember so many names, that if I had to recit the damn would be over! Hahahaha" That was just a weak joke, but at least he should just enjoy his life while it lasts, no one lives forever.
"My name is Admiral Dolomus Ferginer, the new spear head of the fleet."

sorry if i only read the first part of the story, but it kind of remind me about my own story, instead having crew, the ships are sentient and have blood of their own, basically organic Starships:)

got the idea from SoaSE and Sots combine:)

i am sorry, never heard of that character D:

more like the poetic and moral boosting Admirals, always giving out speeches about how being a soldier is tough and ya gotta suck it up and every damn day and fight along side your people like they are family yada yada yada

being a pissed off, moral hurting Admiral is something you never see, usually when he just lashes out on random and the smallest of things, just shows whos boss :D

and i will explain the metric system they use for relaring coordinates, it hard to tell using words and no pics

1. it is a "sexy ass ship". FUCK YEAH!

2. "One minute sir!"
"I am aware of this! We all have damn watches, waste your oxygen yelling for help after I done with you if you say that again!" He was really bugging me off, I have no time for people who say the things I already know."

The Admiral is a fucking asshole :(. Why be a dick. (yes I know the "stress of combat" and other stuff.

But the direction..s.south and s. east. Hmm maybe you could explain your method of how you determine directions given the 3-d in space. But that's nitpicking. Maybe more details on the space battles, but cool.

But I didn't know the carrier (forgot the class) could take out an enemy battleship and ~15 support craft. Maybe you caught them with their shields down as they just hypered in.
